Trip Computer Temperature Sensor!!!

by Daimon » Wed Mar 02, 2005 6:52 pm

Hi guys,

I'm replacing my Trip Computer/Temp sensor because the trip computer said it had a fault with the temp sensor. However after pulling my entire front bumper off to find the damned temp sensor I still can't. Therefore I've come to the conclusion that it was removed at some point in time.

Therein lies the second problem of the day. Where do I plug the NEW temperature sensor in so that I can get my trip computer to tell me the temperature again???

Where exactly does the plug go on, I can't seem to see the correct place to plug it in, perhaps the cable has been coiled up behind something else, so any tips would be verrrrrry useful. I've got to do it quickly however as the car is in the carport in my uncles parking place and if I can't get it done I have to move the car and put the entire bumper back on.

Suggestions please, the Haynes just tells me where the sensor is, not much else that I've found as yet (but still looking).

Thanks

D.

ahhh, ok guys, thanks, so it should be on the same run as the horns which are down there and also the washer bottle motors????

I put in the new trip computer and it was already "LED converted" preeeeeeeetttttty

So just got to find this stupid plug point..

I'll go have another look again now.

Thanks.

I can't seem to find this plug. I know it's got to be there somewhere.

Rusty, do you know exactly where that plug lead comes out from? I can only find the leads for the horns (x2) and for the washer bottle motors (windscreens & headlight washers). So the lead must come from somewhere else, but I can't seem to locate it.

Ok mate, while you've got it out there see if you can locate where the wire comes out from. I have a feeling that my cable/plug has probably been pulled up out of the way somewhere. Arrrgggh, it's too damned cold to be doing this isn't it?

*sob* I just want to know how cold it really is, hahahah.. that's why I did it.

oh dear, you didn't just pull off your wing just to take that picture did you???

Ok, now I'm going to have to pull off my wing to find the wire, HAHAH.. actually probably pull out the washer bottles might be an idea.

I'll go back to it.

right more pics on the way pretty rubbish but bascially show the lead entering the engine bay by the battery, running past the suspension and into the back right hand side of the bay by the alarm horn

I took my Cally to Perrys and the guy offered to fit the sensor for me for free as it was such a quick job. However, when he went to plug it in, he found that the thing it needs to be plugged into was not there! Buggar. He did howevere, fix my dash heating control lights by giving it a whack and bingo! Lights came on!
