Clonking Noise
Hello all,
Have discovered that if I turn right above 5 mph, there is a loud Clonk noise, doesn't seem to affect steering - just makes a loud "Clonk" and then all is well again.
Im sure someone else must have experienced this...
any ideas what it is? Im crap with mechanics and just wanted to ask before I take it to a garage and get shafted!
Cheers,
wardyworld.

Had similar on mine..now its either a ball joint/trackrod end/wishbone problem?..I thought..had them checked by a mate and all ok!...I then painted my front callipers and thought i'd clean and spray a load of WD40 on the top and bottom of the springs, the noise has gone now now.....try that..however you should get the suspension joints/bushes checked out too as there could be a serious problem that will cost more money in the future if you don't sort it.

<!--QuoteBegin-johnny_adidas+--><div class='quotetop'>(johnny_adidas)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->its more than likely your ball joint. mine does the same. im getting a complete wishbone though as from reading on here its easier just to swap the whole part. i got both wishbones for 51 ster inc delivery to ireland on ebay<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
You're right, changing just the balljoint can be a total pain.
I've got a 'clunk' from the n/s too, it's been there for months. So far I've replaced the shocks (both sides obviously), balljoint, arb link (which was missing anyway!) and the noise is still there.
My wishbone bush is completely shot on that side so with luck, that's what's causing the noise. I probably also need a new top mount on that side too, according to a mechanic mate of mine. Something else to consider?

Cheers for this too - I hate nothing more than replacing a part to drive off and find the same problem carries on!
I'll pass all this info onto a trusted mechanic who's done my cars for years - it should help him diagnose and fix it quickly from this info.
cheers guys.

could it be as result of using 18's<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Hi welsh_cally_man,
Well - could be - I fitted 18s a few months back and this noise started about a week ago!!!
Im booking it into a garage tomorrow to see what they think. I will NOT be happy if they replace something and the noise is still there!
Cheers,
wardyworld.
