Suspension worries!

Hi guys

this has probably been answered 10 times over the years but rather than traul through the hundreds of postings, I am gonna just ask again in the hope someone has had the same problem and fixed it. Yeah I know IM LAZY!!!

Basically I am having trouble with my cally t in that it seems to have WAY too soft a suspension at the front. So much so that the wheels are eating away the plastic arch coverings and the inner lip of the arch. NOT GOOD!! not only is it wrecking the inner arch BUT also the brand new tyres I have put on the car. The old tyres had the same trouble so I am convinced its suspension issues as opposed to anything to do with the tyre size. Just in case you are wondering though, the tyres are the 215 50 16 (i believe that to be the standard size?). Standard alloys too.

When looking at the car from the side, it is obvious that the front is lower BUT I am no cally expert and for all I know it is supposed to be that low.

What I am asking is twofold. 1) is there a measurement I can use to check the state of the suspension (from centre of wheel to arch as they use on active suspension car calibration) and 2) if there is something wrong with the suspension for it to be munchin the arches

If anyone can give me some sort of idea as to what it is I would be well chuffed. At the moment I am taking corners slower than my old mark 2 astra!!! All the power no way to use it :'(

Cheers for your replies in advance

Sounds like the McPherson struts have lost thier gas. Go to a couple of suspension specialist for diagnoses before you spend any money. Then see your vaux workshop for final opinion. Get quotes on replacement struts, after market and OEM. Don't trust reconditioned one's, I did and had to refit only 6 months later. Check your spring top and base to see if they are in tact. I'm betting on the lost gas.

Whack a gmax springs and shocks kit on for around £210 inc VAT. It will feel better and last longer than an OE kit and might just be cheaper.
