Cally 8v: What happens if the rear backplates are knackered?
Planning on getting a bloke a friend knows to pretty much replace every piece of braking equipment on the back of my 1991 8v Cally. I think its long overdue, handbrake makes a hell of a noise unless I leave it parked with the thing off and just in gear and I'm sure there's something binding on back there too.
Had a quick look underneath and the slot where the handbrake cable goes through the backplate to attach is on one side, just a big rusty hole.
So, what I was wondering is if this, along with replacement of discs, drums, pads etc, was an added expense of huge quantity, replacement of the backplates that is?
Might as well get the lot done while its up on ramps. Guy who is going to be doing the work is a Vauxhall/Opel expert.
