215s for speed, handling, price and arch clearancs

225s for ride comfort, less road noise

You'll find on a 35 profile that 225 is a LOT more expensive. but if that's not an issue I'd go with 225 as it's better grip and less chance of kerbing, 215's are too easy to kerb!

Will 225's give any arch problems?

I had minor arch problems on 215's, lowered 35mm, never mind 225's. And the wheels were factory offset!

But then again I do drive it a little "hard"

I had no probs what so ever at -35mm on Eibachs and 215's and I drive reasonably hard too I did have minor rubbing under VERY hard cornering on brand new 225's though.

I've just got my 8x18's on the car, fronts are 215/35 at the moment, and rears are 225/40. Offset is currently et35(!!!) and the rears catch a tiny bit over rough bumps with rear passengers.

I have to say though I'm probably going to go 225/40 all round eventually as they drive much better IMO.

I use 215/35/18 on the fronts as it can catch the arches on hard cornering or bumps but use 225/35/18 on the rear with no problems. Thats with it lowered 40mm.

Phil / The crow - All very well but that's not much use to Mr. Ice who runs four wheel drive! If he tried any of those combinations it would be good for all of 400 metres until the viscous coupling explodes in a fireball of molten chocolate!
