Rattling noise from rear wheel

by Robs-se » Sun Jun 26, 2005 11:10 pm

I have a sort of tinny rattle coming from the rear passenger side wheel.
It speeds up when i accellerate and slows down when i break. i was wandering if maybe the hand brake cable had come loose or a spring had snapped.
Has anyone else suffered anything similar or are able to point me in the right direction?

Check your handbrakes shoes - ours did this and we had to replace the shoes, pins and backing plates.

Had the disc off yesterday and yep the pin and spring fell out where the hole in the backing plate had rusted through.

So how difficult is it to change the backing plate.? What does it involve? is it as complicated as the Haynes manual says? D i have to replace the hub as well

I think I may have diagnosed my problem here too!

Is this cheap to sort?

i've had the same problem. the way i sorted it was to remove the shoes completely on the n/s. they are currently lying in the spare wheel well waiting for me to sort it out :nono:

well, i'm pretty sure this is my problem. So no needed to panic right?...... RIGHT????

I'll leave it till I get my other problems sorted like my leaky sump..... my lack of power........ my sunroof appearing to miss a wire and therefore not working...... my boot not opening.......

GRRRR!
