Replacing track rod ends

by centaurandrew » Sat May 27, 2006 11:41 am

Ok ive bought a cally again after 3 years of not having one. The one ive bought needs track rod ends doing on it. Can anyone tell me how much these cost (if i bought them and if i got them done at a garage) and how easy they are to do?

Many thanks.

Your local Partco (or unipart) will do these at around a tenner per side. Fitting is best left to a garage to do as you will need the tracking to be done after fitting. It can be done at home by leaving the locking nut in place so you dont overwind the new rod ends on too far. If they are on too much you will notice that your tyres will be wearing on the edges or the car will be drifting off straight line.

IMO best left to the experts to fit. It doesn't take long and most places will do them while you wait.

id get a garage to do it, they are a b***h to get off, you'll need wheel alignment after anyway
