I put a post on earlier this week regarding the vibration through the steering wheel. After loads of kak it is sorted and it only cost me approx 6 quid.
Got the wheels high speed balanced. No problems at all, all the way up to 230kms/h. If you have this problem my advice before doing anything else it get it high speed balanced

alisdair i am having exactly this problem. I have had my wheels (17's) balanced at kwik fit and it still shakes between 65 and 75, it is very annoying as my car is a 1997 with only 78k on it. It is so smooth at all other speeds.
Is high speed balancing different from normal balancing (the type kwik fit would perform) ??

Well have i got news for you. This may sound like an act of God but a guy on MIG suggested to me tonight that I should swap my rear wheels for my front ones. I got one side swapped and went for a test drive and there is a good improvement. I ran out of daylight and am to swap the others tommorow. Try it, you never know ...

They dont take the wheel off to balance them. They have a wheel that spins the tyre which in turn gives you reading to a pc attached to the wheel. Very simple though. It spins it up to 70mph. It also balances your driveshaft, disc etc. So well worth it. I had swapped my wheels from back to front but had the same problem. So put them back again. All sorted anyway.
I dont know if Kwik Fit will do it.
