Not shaw that I've put this in the right place
When turning right the steering seems to stop for a moment clicks and then moves on, is this the rack or a problem some where ellis?

Check your track rod ends and ball joints and also the lower arm bushes

I've got this same problem and so has a mate of mine.
From what I've heard it's when a valve inside the rack dies, it causes a "notch" in the middle (always seems to be when turning right). Unfortunately it seems the only solution is a new rack or recondition your old one. A rack from a breakers is about £75 or from Vaux it's about £600 (so I've been told).
I haven't done mine because it looks like a job for a garage and the ones I've been to want about £400 labor!!
I think I'll shop around...
