308mm brakes
Hi folks, I have a question regarding the 308mm brake upgrade for my calibra turbo , I can buy the carrier brackets from lmf and new 308mm discs,can I use my own calipers? And If yes, how does this make the brakes any better, correct me if I'm wrong but if I use my standard calipers and pads, how does a larger disc (albeit clamped by the same amount of pad) improve the braking effect??

As long as your brakes where 288mm the calipers will fit.
Going up to 308 (apart from looking a bit better) decreases the amount of force required to stop the rotation.
think of it this way. A small steering wheel is harder to turn than a bigger one...All about leverage.
The further away from the fulcrum you apply a force the less force is required to achieve the same result.

Better pads would be a better purchase in my opinion

I currently have ebc discs and ferod ds2500 pads, looking for a little more feel

Pagid blue RS4.2 are supposed to be really grippy, even from cold. Sadly they are expensive too.
The downside of upgrading pads is that you are asking the setup to dissipate more heat (because that is what friction brakes do).
Many GMs are on the limit for disc heat dissipation so upgrading the pads can cook them. I cracked a set on my Cav CDi. I don't know about 288's, they may well be fine.
Bigger discs provide a larger surface area which assists heat dissipation.

Hi, I've ordered the brackets from lmf,going to order new ebc discs ( it's what I currently have), can anyone confirm if need the vectra 2.6 calipers or use my own? As I'm looking at contradictory info, so e people have used the vectra calipers some the calibra ones.

I have 308s on my Vectra and use the calipers the original 288 discs that are fitted on it and they work fine.

Your calipers will be fine (assuming you currently have 288mm discs), It's the carriers from a Vectra 2.6 that can be used as an alternative to buying them from LMF.

And don't forget some saab's use them too.
First set of 308's I bought years ago from GM had SAAB stamped round the flange face.

iv bought a few set from saabs i always keep an eye out when at the scrapyards
