Urgent question

Got my new doughnut bushes on. They won't go all the way in due to the alloy centre bit. Is this usual??

That's a pic of the old one. You'll find it just in front of the rear wheels.

The reason there is no gap on your old bush is that the middle part breaks way

And when you put a new bush in the you have a slight gap because the centre is solid

Hope this makes sense

I sorted the gap out tonight. I used a gclamp as a spacer to give the tube room to come through.
It shouldn't knock on the floor pan anymore as it was knocking.

I didnt take any more. lol.
If you get under the car, just to the front of the rear wheels you will see and big nut going through round a plate which has 2 prongs on it, that are bolted further forward.
That big nut goes through the bush, if you look just on top of the plate you will see it.

what you on about is.....

when located into the rear subframe, the new replacement bushies dont sit in flush to the subframe, like the original ones.. i done mine, and the new ones sit out aproz 5mm.

They were about 19 quid each from Autovaux. The part number is on the first page.

They were sat out about 10mm one side and 15 the other.
When they were sat that far out it pushed the beam really close to the frame and it kept banging on it.
They are now sat about 3mm if that.

what were the stmptoms that made you do this and, have you seen any vast improvments

Seemed a bit wobbly and when I had the geometry tested it showed the back wheels were out. So I thought I'd start by changin them.
As for improvments, it's so much more solid to drive.
