possible anti-roll bar link or cv joint is knacked, light does not come on for ac unless there is enough pressure in the system you can get the gasses from halfords but i dont know where to put it in
Cheapest check is the CV joint. But auxillary belts can also cause the problem. Get a spray bottle of water and spay the belts while the engine is running. If the noise disappears, wait for them to dry and apply belt dressing "carefully" to shut down the noise.
