shakey steering and knocking sound from front drivers side

by jayl645 » Sun Aug 21, 2005 4:20 pm

as above, i was driving home from colchester zoo today and my steering was really badly shaking and steering all over the place,so i pulled over and looked at tyres and wheels gave them a shake and all seems fine, its been shaking "a bit" for the past couple of months but nothing like this(was really bad i couldn't drive over 60mph),
does any one know what it could be and what to look for (as many pics as possible please),

there is a fuew things it could be, anti roal bar link, lower arms, ect but some pics would be a great help,

thanks in advance jay

i took it to my local trusted garage today and he took it for a spin,(thats the first time i have seen it being driven up the road, looks quite nice)
anyway the problems are:
1. bold tyre
2, lower rear arm
3.engine mount gone
4,the wheels need balanceing and tracking done,

now the question is am i getting a good deal?,i can get all the problems sorted for 137.49p,

he said it was cheaper to replace the whole arm rather than just the bearing,it would cost to much in labour,

but the good news is that my steering rack if fine, so im well happy

Do you mean 'Front Suspension Arm REAR Bush' or are you talking about the 'Rear Suspension Arm'?

I changed both lower arms, drop links and discs and it still wobbles above 60 and under braking. Also has a slight left pull.

I'll take it to have all 4 done then cos last garage told me it was ok although his face did drop at the site of the rod ends.

hehe,it took them 2 hours to do mine,no amount of wd40 or banging would make them move at all,
