Lowered 40mm, best way to stop scrubbing?
Lowered 40mm, best way to stop scrubbing?
Hi
I just had my cally lowered 40mm onto a set of 18s.
The front is rubbing on the arches and I dont want to change the springs or change the wheels, what options do I have?
Whats involved in rolling the arches?
Cheers

Mainly when cornering but also when slowing down.
Its only just catching, but enough to mark the tyre edge.

tis a strange one. someimes u find on hard cornering it will happen, although a pair of from ajustable shocks will help, by setting them to firm setting this will restrict body roll,so cure your prob.
or as been said 2 bump stops together.

it can be the J size of the rim (larger footprint from same size tyre) or a difference in spring/tyre/offset
by putting ther extra bump stops on you will find it wont rub at all even on speed bumps and it wont affect spring rate...or travel as you have boosted the height of the spring seating material
it is important to raise both front and rear though or you will affect the handleing in a serious way

just glue them mate....make sure they are glued properly though as you dont wat the rears coming off if you get airborne (not a joke)

I just gave VPSC a ring and he said to use Springs Assistors like these http://www.rtecshop.com/index.php?p=produc...product_id=2266
So shall I get bumpstops or spring assistors now?

well id say that they do affect spring rate..how can they prevent rubbing if they done? (they are inside the spring)
id say bumpstops because i have ran them before without issue but its really up top you...i havent ran assistors so i dont want to comment too much on those
either is a bodge at best but i know the bumps work!

Well I went for the spring assistors as a quick solution, they turned up this morning and I had them fitted in the rain within 5 minutes.
They work a treat, no more scrubbing and they have lost me only a couple of millimeters in drop.
I'll wait for it to get dry and take the car for a proper drive and report back on handling etc
Cheers
