Problem WIth KONI shock!!

by CAL.16V » Thu Mar 23, 2006 1:39 pm

hi ...

about a month ago or so a used set of koni yellow shocks for my 96 cally turbo 4x4...

i have fitted the rear ones myself as they were easy and was waitinjg to buy springs before getting the fronts put in... when i fitted one of them, the top little adjuster snapped clean off one of them so i guess they were stuck on the hardest setting...

i couldnt adjust them because there was no little knob so been driving around and the rear paasenger side were it was ftted felt heaps skiddish and hard... every crack in the road could be felt with stock tyres...

i then fitted some 18's a couple weeks ao and about a week ago i noticed the whole car floating on little bumps in the road... small bumps like potholes one after the other felt like the car was oversteering around slight corners and felt like the cars is on ice (exaggerating) ... very crappy handling now...

anyhow i checked in the boot compartment and in the guard and have found that the shock is leaking oil ot of the top where all the nuts are and its leaking down into the top of the guard where the shock sits....

does this mean the shock is fecked?? or does it simply mean that it is too tight and is slowly leaking or what???

how can i wind the shocks down without the little adjustment knob to make them softer??

it looks like a threaded bolt may fit in but dont think theres thread there.. not too sure

any help appreciated...

cheers fellas

sounds like time for a new shock, sounds like some1 has wound them too far and twisted the knob to the point of breaking

i bought them from uk and i am in australia...

i think the guy i bought them from bought a cally turbo from some young guy he was telling me and he basicallly just broke the car so i dont think he would be able to find a reciept for them... hes the same guy selling a turbo motor with cooler etc not too long agp, maybe still now...

do they have lifetime warranty? then?? so yous think that the oil coming out would be due to them being too tight?? would it be fine if i wound them down?? not sure how to do that though??

were would the oil be coming out of?? the top where the little adjuster broke off or from somewhere else??

damm cally , just when everything was sweet

you'll find most warrenties are fully transferable. but this usually involves informing the company. if you havent done that and have no reciept, its in lap of the gods. cant see them sorting it,but never know
