308mm questions

I ordered the 298mm + carlton brakes kit from EDS. It doesn't really fit. We grinded off some of the caliper as instructed, it still needs about 2mm to fit. They(EDS) already grinded of a mm from the "inner part" of the disc and weakened it there. And like 5mm is grinded off the calipers now.. I need to grind 2mm more off, there will only be about 2mm left. I do not intend on putting calipers like that on my car. EDS are insane for selling it. They're pretty strict with their TUV rules, I don't know how such a kit is legal(it probably isn't).
This was ordered by my mechanic, who's a good bloke and admits the kit sucks and offered to pay for the cost of the since he suggested it. He didn't realise it was such a bad fit, but had good experience with EDS beforehand....

Anyway, I'm interested now in the 308mm kit from LMF. I have a '95 16v ecotec - 4 stud obviously and don't intend on changing it(I like my wheels a lot [img]/smile.gif[/img] ) .
Is there any extra fitting involved when fitting this kit? Like the one required to fit the EDS kit? I don't really fancy grinding calipers or discs or hubs for that matter. Will the discs fit straight onto the hub? Do I need some kind of spacers or spigot rings? If I do, will they be provided in the kit?
Are the discs in the 4 stud version just redrilled 5 stud discs? Meaning there's a few extra holes or funny holes? Or are they specially manufactured?
Can I just order discs, calipers and brackets for the astra G turbo, zafira or vectra gsi and redrill the discs to 4 stud pattern myself? Is there some kind of "very special" process so the disc doesn't break or develop cracks?
It is a lot simpler for me to order the parts from the local VX(Opel) dealer than order the kit from the UK(I'm in Croatia).

Many questions, but bear with me, I was quite disappointed with the EDS kit, my discs and pads need urgent replacing, and I can't afford waiting for another dud kit, let alone pay for it..

I think the discs are just redrilled. You'll need the calipers, and caliper brackets. The Astra G and Zafira are different to the Vectra GSi i believe. You want Vectra GSi.

So astra G and zafira have the same disc but different calipers and brackets? That's very useful info, thanks!

I checked that Vectra GSI you talk about only exists as a vauxhall, there is no such european Opel Vectra.. You lucky gits [img]/smile.gif[/img] I hope I'll be able to order vauxhall parts from here, or at least from austria. I need brakes ASP. I'm missing some serious track day action...

I've fitted these on my cally. - The V6 conversion was a bit heavy and I kept over heating the original 256mm discs :-)

LMF provide you with the discs redrilled to 4 stud, pads, calipers and carrier brackets. Everything is brand new. The only down side I have found is that the inner hole which goes over the hub is too large and to get the discs to sit exactly correct, you have to put a couple of bolts through the holes with the discs on first, lock the brakes on (or get someone to keep their foot on the brake), remove the bolts and then fit the wheel and bolts before releasing the brake. Other than that, I've had no problems and nothing but joy with them!:icon_mrgr

I bought the same kit off LMF too but I got the Irmscher drilled disks and they came with precisely machined spacers. One thing with the GSI calipers is that if you want to keep the brake pad wear sensors you'll find the calibra ones don't fit, the GSI ones have different end connectors, so it's a case of cut and solder

Phantom and Tim - I've spoke to LMF today and apparently it was their mistake...they should have sent the spacers but didn't so they're now on their way [img]/smile.gif[/img]

i got my v6 disks redrilled to 4 studd and bought spiggot rings to reduce the gap blob on really!
