Bleed nipple snapped
Hi all. I got hold of a brake master cylinder for £17 from a scrappy cuz my old one was knackered. After some fidling (I'm a bit of an amateur) I got the "new" one bolted on. Next came the process of bleeding the brakes. While attempting this the bleed nipple snapped and I was told to take it to a garage to get them to replace the nipple? They could either do that or I'd have to get new calipers? I was told that because one of the nipples snapped and all the others looked just as rusty that they would all probably snap. If I were to change the calipers then the brake pipes might snap which would lead to brake pipes needing to be replaced which I'm told is a lot of mechanics time. What's involved in changing the brake pipes if they do snap? Where should I buy my calipers and pipes (potentially) from? Any brands reccomended?
Anyone got any suggestions for what I should do?
In short, I have snapped one of the bleed nipples, what is the best course of action?
Thanks,
Matt

When you say master Cylinder, do you mean the caliper behind the wheel?
If so you may well need a new caliper, I have not got a broken nippel out of one to date...
If you join up with Club Calibra as a full member you should get a good discount on that sort of stuff from Vauxhall. Just thought I had better throw that in there...

broken bleed nipples are a pain and can result in a new caliper (not cheap).
dont worry about brake pipes snapping thats bollox lol they are flexible.
best thing for bleed nipples is a tight ring spanner and a sudden shock (tap with a hammer) im told to release them.
Best bet is try to find a good replacement caliper from a scrappy.

No, I'm talking about the brake master cylinder, It's located at the rear of the engine bay to the left next to the tank for engine coolent and sits under the break fluid resevoir.
So if I try to bleed the rest of the brakes and any of those nipples snap then I should look to a scrappys for a set of calipers for each nipple I snap?
