Ideas for removing a stubborn subframe bolt?

Any issues relating to suspension, steering and brakes.

I've managed to get 5 of the 6 subframe bolts out but not the last one. Has anyone got any ideas? The car is going to be scrapped so anything's game ;)

Why can't you undo it?? is the socket breaking or rounding off??

if its none of the above then get a longer bar on it. a good 2foot breaker bar if you have one, a scaffold pole over the top of a spanner if you don't

The socket is rounding off. Got a fairly decent extension bar on it but no good :(

Are you using a 6 sided or 12 sided socket?? you need to use a 6 sided one.

Assuming you are, then the next best bet is to get an imperial socket slightly smaller and hammer than on it and try undo it.

I'm assuming its one of the slightly countersunk ones you can't just grind the head off?

Failing the above, as your scrapping her, you could use a torch to burn it off? and more fun :D

you could also weld another bolt onto it that way you've got a bolt head that isn't rounded :D
BETTER TO HAVE A CALIBRA AND NOT NEED ONE, THAN NEED A CALIBRA AND NOT HAVE ONE!!!

Lol cheers for the ideas, keep em coming :D
Stu - the socket is 12 sided, I haven't got any 6 sided ones that are 1/2 inch drive. Will head to Halfrauds tomorrow and see if they sell any single ones. With a bit of luck should be getting a mate to help to me tomorrow.

Also worth trying to go a 1/4 turn tighter, just to get some movement.

Soak it overnight in some penetrating lubricant, then hammer an imperial socket on and use the longest breaker bar available.

Blow torch... You wouldn't believe how much this can come in handy for removing nuts and bolts that just wont budge... Another tip is use coke on it (dont use diet) Its meant to be better than WD40...

Got it off in the end, found a bit of scaffold which did the trick :D
And removed my first engine :)
