Brake problems

by evilcally » Wed Jan 23, 2008 1:10 pm

I have just fited new callipers, brake pipes and goodridge flexi-hoses to the front of the car (cant do rear flexies as they are so badly corroded its a garage job!) the problem is although Im bleeding the system correctly the pedal keeps going to the floor.
Everything has been checked and tightened and I have done all 4 corners at least 3 times.
Should i have done anything to the callipers before they went on ie:- pushing the pistons out?
Possibly could be new flexi hoses but they are definatly right ones for car has anyone else got these fitted and have you any pics for me to check them by, or has anyone had problems with these before?
Hope someone can help as my other car got smashed up last night (women driver pulling out without looking, what a suprise!) so I really need my Calibra back on the road.
Thanks.

When this happened to me it was the master cylinder that had gone. Apparently it was on its way out and by pushing the pedal attempting to bleed the system I knackered it. Now got a pressure kit you use with a spare tyre :|
Hope you get it sorted mate

Yep gunson eazi-bleed cost around a tenner from halfrauds. Definitely worth a go as its a lot lot cheaper than a master cylinder.

Thanks guys will give it a go.
Got a cheap set of flexis too just to check its not bas fitting replacements leaking air into the system.

Did kinda think that but also thought that if the master cylinder was knackered it would not be pumping out air or fluid and its doing both.
Put on new OE flexies this morning but still getting hissing so maybe not faulty aftermarket parts, pedal is still not firming up though.
What order should brakes be bled in as I am geting conflicting info.
