Jacking/axle stand points - Haynes picture doesn't match car
Hi,
I've attached some pics of the underneath of my car at the front (normal size!).
I've read the Haynes section where it says where the points are but I can't see it from where I'm looking and it doesn't make it clear.
Can someone please tell me where the appropriate points are? Im trying to change my brake pads and want to support the front on axle stands but Im not sure where to place them. I need a location that I can jack up, then slide the axle stand in!
Appreciate the help by the way. I've had this 1993 redtop cally since 2006 and keeping it going till it completely conks out! With your help I can keep it going.
Thanks.

Re: Jacking/axle stand points - Haynes picture doesn't match car
the jacking points are on the actual Cill...though I never use them myself
Re: Jacking/axle stand points - Haynes picture doesn't match car
isn't that for the vehicle jack tho? thats what haynes says. ive got a hydraulic jack and it stresses to use the hydraulic jack on the appropriate hydraulic jacking point - as it says its different to the vehicle jack.

whats wrong with the location you have the stands now??

Re: Jacking/axle stand points - Haynes picture doesn't match car
yeh thats the problem, due to the wide base of the axle stand it takes up a lot of surface area.
yeh the car is on axle stands atm but i forgot that to change the brake pads (and take wheels off) to undo the nuts i have to loosen them when the car is on the ground first (doh!).
so now i need to jack it up again. remove axle stands. drop it down. loosen wheel nuts. and put it back on axle stands.
I just want to make sure im jacking it up at a safe appropriate place.

get somone to put there foot on the brakes and then you can undo the bolts without putting it back down

Re: Jacking/axle stand points - Haynes picture doesn't match car
ok so just jacked the car up with the hydrau. jack where Haynes says you're not supposed to - at the vehicle jack locations.
nothing dramatic happened.
i've now got another problem in my changing pads journey: im struggling to push the cylinder back in to fit the new pads - any tips/ideas?
or is it supposed to be proper hard.

k thanks i was hoping there was some magic easy option for pro's.

Re: Jacking/axle stand points - Haynes picture doesn't match car
leave old front pad in, hold calliper (or put bolts back on) insert large type lever between piston and disc, apply pressure to piston
oh an remove brake reservoir cap
thats what I do

Re: Jacking/axle stand points - Haynes picture doesn't match car
I usually jack up on the subframe and insert axel stands where you have located them or the other way round. Usually take out the pads and push the piston in with a bar but take off reservior cap first
More power than God
Re: Jacking/axle stand points - Haynes picture doesn't match car
Use a large flat bladed screw driver on the edge of the cylinder and take the resevoir cap off as well
