My new 308mm brakes. Question?? (pics)
Hey guys. I had a delivery this morning.....
Front brakes off a Vectra 2.6 GSi.
consisting of calipers with carriers, discs and pads.

Seeing as i had the car on axle stands I did a quick trial fit.

The carriers fit so that is good news.
The question I have is regarding the discs themselves.
My car is P reg Ecotec with 4 stud hubs and hub is smaller than veccy one.

Now i know I will need to drill them to a 4x100 pcd and that is no problem i will do that at work.
But what do I do about the bigger inner diameters of the disc that locate onto the hub?

Do I need to make some sort of spigot ring for the inside of the disc or a ring to go over the hub?

So what did you guys with 4 stud hub do?
Im looking forward to getting these on my calibra
Once I get them all on and working fine I will be buying some drilled/grooved discs for them

Re: My new 308mm brakes. Question??
you could make a spigot for them yes or just loose fit as the wheel bolts will hold them in place, see my car profile on the Ecotec

Cheers mate. Wasn't sure if it was ok to loose fit.
Although I may have a go at making some rings up in work as I work on CNC lathes.
Do you think it will be ok to sand blast the calipers provided I tape up dust seals and threads etc?

if you can make rings that would be better, the wheel bolts will hold them on but if you have to change a wheel late at night at the side of the road in the rain, you will be so glad that you did

Yea that's a good point.
I will take some measurements and make a few up.

I'd rather avoid loose fit therefore my vote goes for spigot rings.

Your answer is here dude

i have just done it for fitting the 288mm discs to a corsa 4x100.
Get them delivered for £1.98 for both of them (or LMF will charge you £20 + p&p for metal ones) once you have them cut the 4 tabs off the where the flared end is cut that off across the spiggot and keep the centered part. this will now fit the disn and not purtrude past the disc.
Any problems inbox me

Might be worth seeing what centre bore is on the 4x100 ~288mm Lotus discs.
I think a certain Meriva has 4-stud 288's as well

Just a little update on this post.
Made some rings up in work for the difference in hub diameter.
Gonna clean up the GSi calipers and paint them then get them fitted.
I will be taking lots of pics along the way so others can see how I did it.
P.S. I think I will be buying the drilled & grooved discs from MTEC with the black coating once I am happy all is working as it should.

The black coating wears straight off the face of the discs just to let you know.
Did you fully make them or cut the spiggot ring down I liked up?

Made them up out of mild steel in work. Also drilled the original GSi discs out to 4x100 too.
Yea I've seen that the coating wears off the face but just want to keep the rest of the disc free of surface rust and looking neat. Either that or I paint the non contact parts.
If it wasn't p1ssing down every day I would probably had a go at getting them on by now.
