how do i go about removing the door strips and strips on the bumpers i want to paint them and stick them back on

iirc the door strips slide off the clips, and the bumpers are arses as they have wee plastic bits that snap when you pull em off daz

take bumper off and they are held on with star clip along the back ...and best order new ones to put back on

I was thinking of doing the same at somepoint, but heard they are an arse to get off... isn't there a special tool to get them undone?

Thanks I'll try my local dealer. A body worker friend had told me they were virtually impossible to get so I have been reusing them.

To help getting them off I cut through one of the sides of the star washer with strong side cutters and twist. It makes them a bit easier to put back on as well. Doesn't seem to affect the grip.

you will also find when sliding the side strips off you will break some of the plastic reatiners that fix to the body of the car, best get some spares but they're not cheap iirc
