idle control valve

by rich30mex » Sat Jun 01, 2013 7:44 pm

Can anyone tell me at what point does the idle control valve kick in is it at a sertn amount or revs or temperature as I'm now getting fault code 57 and I wasn't before I rebuilt it my plan is to do the screwdriver test to see if I can feel it opening and closing but need to no when it's going to kick in
Thanks

Is there anyother way to test this while it's on the car or is there a easy way to get it off with out stripping the hole manifold off

You should be able to get it off without taking the manifold off, I would double check all the hoses first though

Right i have traced the wires back in the harniss from the control valve. put a pin in the live wire when NOT running put a live to it, u can hear the valve open and close then tryed it when running and it makes the revs clim when putting a live wire to the pin.so I think the the valve is fine but it will not working from it's own power supply ????????

Stripped it down rebuilt it again and it's no longer showing code 57 it's now showing the original code of code 69 which I thought I had solved
