Stopping power
This weekend I finally got round to fiting the Vectra GSi brakes to the SE8 and replace the biscuit tin lids. I have had them sitting around since the beginning of summer.
Vectra GSi 288mm brakes are 5x110 fitting but my Calibra has 4x100 hubs so rather than chage all the hubs a took the discs to work and re-drilled the on the milling machine to get them to fit to my habs and the holes line up.
Also the centres are 70mm diameter and my hubs are 60mm. So to centralise the hubs a made sone spigot rings on the late to take up the gap and to get the discs to sit centrally. I machined these to a tolerance fit so I just had to knock them into the center of the discs so they fit tight. Although the securing screw hole does not line up they hold fine once the wheels are bolted on.
I just cleaned up the calipers and gave them a lick of paint to tidy them up.
When I bleed the brakes I took the opportunity to replace the brake fluid too and upgrade to dot 4 fluid.
They look a lot better behind the wheels than the standard items.
The car certainly stops a lot better and quicker now

Re: Stopping power
I have had my 308's in the garage for over a year now.
I am hoping to fit them this Friday providing it doesn't p**s down.
I did exactly the same as you mate. Redrilled discs to 4x100 and made some hub spacers(work on cnc machines too)
Good work!
