boot install

well i finally decided to make a start on my install. this has been a long time coming ( over a year ).
so i started with running the live wire from the battery, bit of a pain in the arse that one.

then i connected the wires into the back of my stereo, found running the wires up the side alot easier than when i done my install on my cavalier, due to the fact that the plastic trim is screwed on rather than the clips that you get in the cavalier, therefore no risk of breaking clips this time round .

so managed to get all the wires running into the boot, live running up one side of the car and speaker and remote lead running up the other. still got to fix in the earth wire just looking for a suitable place to fix it.

so the next thing for me to do is to start making up a sub box and a stealth shelf for this lot to go in. i've had this lot for a couple of years now and they were a good buy when i got them so i'm just going to stick with them rather than buying new.

actually get quite a good sound off these, their getting a bit old now compared to some of the sub and amps that JBL do now. but when i got them they were JBL's best on the market at that time.
as for the 6x9's think you can pick these one's up for about £30 now, when i got them they were £140

Shouldn't the remote wire be installed on the side as the power and not the speakers.

The remote wire is carrying current not sound.

dont reli matter wich side it's on, aslong as it's pluged in right theres no problem,
i've lost count how many times i've installed wiring kits,

to be honest Trev both sides have wires that carry electrical current, its just because the live is running straight from the battery is the reason they must be kept separate so as not to cause interference.

ive always ran the live amp wire from battery down passenger side and the remote /phonos down the drivers side.

thats the way i do it as most of a cars wiring for the back of the car runs down the passenger side.

I suppose the sound quality is only as good as the cables carrying the audio signal, for example if you have unscreened cables you will get some level of interference, always better to have a top quality wiring kit.

well i've had this wiring kit since i done my install in my cavalier and at the time when i bought it the kit cost me £45. was the dearest one in the place so it must be a good quality one. i also use 1.5mm speaker cables (AUTOLEADS recommended) running from the amp to the sub and 6x9's.

1.5mm is a little small for a sub, what is the max power and rms rating of your speakers and amp?
