anybody got experience with using Video screens in a cally ?
anybody got experience with using Video screens in a cally ?
In my van I mounted a netbook upside down ..and can watch vids on long drives ...without much danger.. (as long as the movie is simple enough to listen to ) its almost on windshield, so just like glancing at satnav.. Never lost road attention so far..
I got the chance to pick up a pile of quality alpine stuff from 4 years ago, 7" vid screen..DIN mount...but trying to figure will it be usable while driving . its pretty low down from the windscreen...
anybody been able to drive with a reg DIN mounted video display/tv etc ?

That's probably the reason its illegal to have the screens on in the front while your driving
BETTER TO HAVE A CALIBRA AND NOT NEED ONE, THAN NEED A CALIBRA AND NOT HAVE ONE!!!

I dont have problem if its screen mounted.. I just listen to the audio..and glance occasionally...just like looking in rear mirror.
Anybody tried screen mounted vs DIN mounted.

I woul dthink as soon as sPC plod seen that you will be getting told to rip it out,
I would say though its not really a thing that you could watch while driving with it down low, and mine was mounted in the space where the duel gauges go rather than the one below for the stereo ..so a wee bit higher
the real question is though is why do you want to watch a DVD while driving ...its madness

I listen to em... like comedys etc...on boring drives.. never had a problem when its screen mounted... mostly dialouge rather than visuals.. or other stuff like exciting science lectures for uni work..again mostly dialouge, with occaisonal glance. If road needs attention for the glancy bits. i just hit pause and rewind
You mean you dont watch buck rodgers in the 25th century while driving

Re: anybody got experience with using Video screens in a cal
so why not just listen to it like a CD ..why do you need a screen if its just for dialogue
I have drove lorries and vans from one end of the country to the other and have never felt the need to watch a DVD while driving, the radio or a cd is fine....conversation even better
what next doing your course work as your driving or reading a book !!!
and Buck rodgers was better with the sound off anyway ...and with the distractions of that show I would say you would have to watch it rather than listen to it

I have one in mine but don't use it when driving, I don't like using the touch screen for the radio/CD player.

I got it years ago when the boys were younger and coming to shows with me as Joel never liked going to them and it gave him something to do.
