i have now installed my vdo gauge
when i bought my cally it came with a D.I.D so i swapped it for a trip computer took me a while but i managed to install the switch great. now i wanted a VDO gauge managed to get hold of one hard little buggers to get hold of paid £25 bargin only problem was no wire to connect up worked out that it was the same four pin connector that my cd drive used in my computer so off i went to the computer shop got one about 50p now i could start. now first thing was to find a + and a - also needed to find a dash ilumination so i thought of diffrernt ways then it hit me!!! just tapp into the old DID loom so i connected:
pin 1 on the vdo to wire brown which was the ground -
pin 2 on the vdo to wire grey/black which was dash illumination
pin 3 on the vdo to wire black which was ignition +
dont try to connect to the fag lighter it will only read 12v all the time you could also tapp into the radio or the fuse box but i found this way easier.
now all that is needed is the pressure gauge switch which can be obtained from autovaux about £40 well i hope this info helps others trying to install vdo gauge into a cally that isnt wired up for it did this on my 93 redtop takes about 45mins if you are a bit slow with a soldering iorn lol
