That's for outside temp. --.-- means either a broken wire or knackered sensor. Located bottom left hand side of front bumper in front of the plastic spoilers. (passenger side). Looks like a 3 prong gizmo with a tip in the middle poking through a small hole.

Yep Spearmint is spot on.

When I bought my 8v I had the same thing, turns out the sensor wasn't even there... I guess it must have either fallen off or been taken. £15 at Vauxhall sorted that out though

Let us know how you get on.

yeah my temp gauge went wrong but it read 65C sometimes so i would ware shorts and t-shirt, ended up freezing my knackers of when i remeber it was mid winter and the thin layer of ice upon my windscreen.

Glad to be of help, have a good root about the inside of your bumper as well. I've done it before when taking the bumper off and back on, then forgetting to put the sensor back in the hole.

it now works and i dont hav a fault reading anymore,,

thats my 2nd money saver of the day,, 1st was finding my window roll up worked on passenger side only,, key i mean but both windows go up.
