Intermittent Direction Indicators

I dare say this has been covered before, but I thought it a good idea to publish what I have just found out.
I have had an intermittent indicator for quite some time, and found that by pushing and releasing the Hazard warning switch, the indicators would work OK for a while.
As this pointed to a faulty switch rather than a faulty sender, I asked around and found that this was a not uncommon fault, and that a new switch would cost £37 + VAT.
I decided to have a look at the switch myself, as it is easy to remove,
I removed the switch, carefully disassembled it by using a thin blade on each side to release the lugs holding it together, re-tensioned the internal contacts, re-assembled it, replaced in dash. and it now works fine and has done for the past two weeks.
As there was no significant wear on the switch contacts, re-tensioning was all that was needed.
