light fault...,strange lights

since i took it all apart to do the engine, battery out etc to do the head gasket, ( never touching the headlight wires!) my lights have gone a bit strange..
with engine off, ignition on

sightlights turned on, drivers side little tiny sidelight bulb on and passenger headlight (next to indicator)
turn headlights on, pasenger fog light on drivers side still ok,
turn mainbeam on all lights on except drivers fog light and passenger sidelight
turn foglights on as well and all lights are on, pasenger sidelight bulb not that bright

start engine

all passenger side lights except for sidelight bulb go off, drivers side all stay on

rear lights work ok, indicators, brake lighhts, no faults on dash lights,
parking lights work ok

the only thing thats possibly wrong as well , the lights reverse lights only work (on both my callys ) when the engine is running

any ideas?

and ive just noticed, when the lights are turned on to headlights the blue mainbeam light on the dash lights 1/2 brightness, but still goes on full when the mainbeam is switched on.

sounds like a bad earth

Agreed, a bad earth is the reason for many lighting problems.
