1992 2.0 16v Cali starting problem
Thanks for all the posts guys, Sorry I have been away for a while, Wel this does sound like good news !!!
Ill check mine on sunday, Im glad to hear it is defo electrical after all.
I do have an imobiliser on mine too, but to be honest it has always worked fine, but knowing what the wiring on my car is like I think this sounds likely.....

Hi guys, Well I checked all the wiring I could on the car this weekend, I looked at the ignition, mine had the red/black wire connected to a black wire and the bike wire went to the ignition terminal, These 2 blak wires are for the imobiliser, Which is now disconnected.
Still have the starting problem, although I did do some cleaning work on the fuel pressure vacum pipes and this has made a hell of a difference when the engine is running, drives like new now.
Well after all the parts I have replaced and the money I have spent I think I have got pretty close to solving the problem but alas the calibra is now up for sale as I have just got myself a xr4x4 2.9ltr!!
So if anyone is interested in the Cali then drop me an email at mark.sewell@kingsturge.com
Ill accept any offers over £600 as I need to get rid of it quick to make room for the new one this week.
Thanks for all your help everyone you have been great !
Cheers

there is 1 more thing you could try check the relay that in your drivers foot well just under your ESU next to your central locking solonoid, you cant miss it its quite big about any 1" wide and a good 2" high check this is in nice and tight this relay can shut down you engine management system if its noy working right.

sound like you havent disconnent the live wire witch is connected to your ignition this only has power when the key is turned and is what makes the immobilser light stay on and as soon as you remove the key it goes out.
you will find it normally near the stearin wheel hight ajuster remove the plastic case and you should see it.
the main live feed ( 1 that all the time) 4 the immobiliser can be taken from any perminant feed coming ont of the back of ya fuse box ( the 1 near wear ya knees are when you drive).
if i can help any more just ask:thumb:

its better from the fuse box, but there are 2 lives feeds on a immobiliser 1 from that should be connected 2 the fuse box and 1 that runs up to the ignition(behind the steerin wheel) which is only live when the key is turned this live makes the l.e.d on the immobiliser stay on (no flashing) to warn you that the immobiliser has not been turned of.
the white and black wires are to cut out your ignition.

I was driving my car the other day on my way home about an hour into the journey. the car started to lose power thenstalled and wouldnt start again. got a friend to tow me. when then played with my wiring under the dash, the black connector on the left of the steering column and it started up no problem. dont know if this helps as all my wireing is shot. god damn vauxhall and there bright ideas.
