Help wiring illuminated door handles

by Phil » Wed Jun 01, 2005 3:21 pm

Hey folks!
I know a few people have done this, and I have fitted some LEDs into my new door handles. I woulg like to know where I can wire these up please.
- I have the standard alarm at the moment so I know it's not going to have the proper effect. But one day an alarm will follow. -So this is prep work!

Thanks,

Phil

Depends, when do you want them to light up?

When do ford ones light up. On ignition, or lights on.

Well the plan is like this:
Entry to car - Light up on unlock / alarm off. Go off on engin on.
On exit of car - light up on engine off. Go off on doors lock / alarm activated.

Thanks.

That sounds good. I'd like the same. Don't know how to wire it though.

Anyone?

Been trying out some diagrams for this and came up with this. You need to use logic in your circuit for this one as to use relays etc would be too time consuming.

You have the nand gate which requires a '0' output from the alarm module and the ignition barrel to turn the lights on. If either the alarm gives out a '1' (Alarm on) or the ignition gives out a '1' (Turning your ignition too at least position 2) then the nand gate won't give a '1' out and turn the lights off.

I've tried uploading the diagram but it's about 600% too big. Shrink it down to it's right size and the file is not recognised. I could try and e-mail it too you if you pm me.
