Oil pressure sensor...Nightmare.!!!

My oil pressure sensor is of the scale.!!
As soon as i turn my ignition on my oil pressure sensor gauge fly’s of the top of the scale as far as it can go. I’m sure its not the real pressure of the engine as that isn’t even running and can only think it is a short somewhere.
Would it be a duff sensor or a short somewhere?
Where would i find the sensor so i can trace the wiring backwards?

RE: Steering wobble when accelerating
Very unlikely to be a duff sensor OR a short.
It will probably be a broken connection on the sensor - This happened to mine.
I got it sorted when I changed the oil as I could unscrew the sensor without oil pi$$ing out.
Its fiddly but you might be able to leave it on and reconnect the wire if you take the O/S wheel off & Jack it up.
The sensor is behind the oil filter. Its a small cylindrical shape, with 2 or in your case probably 1 wire(s) coming from it. I *think* the one your after is green/grey!
HTH!

RE: Slow for super cars
I've had this trouble on both my Calibra's.
Both time it was cured by cleaning up the connector, which gets very corroded. (It's just an unprotected female spade crimp)

<!--QuoteBegin-haroldhettaturbo+--><div class='quotetop'>(haroldhettaturbo)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->i have similiar probs with mine, my gauge reads fine but the red oil light flickers on.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I'd be a little concerned if the oil light is coming on. Apart from checking there's oil in the engine, I'm sure someone more knowlegable on here will give a better idea what the problem is.
