Caliper

Hi

I have a '95 ecotec and I took her to a "free all over check" at a vauxhall dealership.

Upon this check I had a few problems highlighted and she is not actually in that bad a condition !! In fact considering the price I get her, 12 owners (inc me) and no history she is in excellent condition.

Anyway, the drivers side rear wheel squeeking and also it doesn't actually look like it is gripping the disk. Also once I have pressed the brake and pulled away it feels like it is a bit sticky. Would a brake bleed be a good place to start or is a new caliper in order ?

Any pointers appreciated.

my calibra failed the mot last month because of this craig, 'low effort on rear near side brakes'

My caliper had seized up, so I needed that overhauled, and the 2 rear brakes valves had to be replaced as contaminated brake fluid had caused corrosion

that was £210 for all that. the valves (which in my invoice said 'Brake Regulator Modulator') cost £90.

apparently a common problem? hope this helps

what normally happens in the rear caliper is that the rear brake pins that the pad slides on corrodes and the pads stick this can also lead to the caliper piston seizing as well, good place to start would be to replace the pins with new ones and see if this cures the problem
