i have taken off one of my front wheels today only to descover a funny oily residue splatterd round the inside of the rim the lower ball joint and around the cv but carnt see any spilts in the cv and the clips are secure have i disturbed somthing when i did the suspension any ideas would be greatly appriciated

oil or grease? if its grease then CV's as you say, but if you're certain they're not leaking and its more like "oil" then possibly brake fluid if you've disturbed the hose while doign the suspension, they're easily damaged when old.

stupink its quite thick and my first thought was brake fluid but ive never seen thick brake fluid before its very clumpy like and black like grease im thinking cv but carnt see where its comming from. if its the cv is it possible just to repack with grease

i would repack it with greese and get a new clip, or if it not repacked your cv joint will go in a couple of months(clicky time), if its thick i would say cv joint greese,

cheers i thought i might be the cv just strange thats all well better get it sorted first thing rather than later and end up paying more:)

oh by the way jay how did you get on with your lowering did it go ok ive got the how2 writen up with pics just incase you need it took me all day just to do the front LOL but it was worth the blood and sweat for 30mm
