De-Keying?

by cally228 » Sun Aug 21, 2005 8:31 am

I have just fitted an engine start button to my car, and was wondering if I could go one step further and remove the need for a key entirely?
I know DC has done this and was just wondering what is involved, is it just a case of removing the wire from the barrel and connecting it to a switch? Or is it a bit more complicated than that?
Cheers
Scotty.

were did u possition your button for starters as i hav a button to fit and want it below the fag lighter behind the fag tray cover,,,, #

you would also need to fit a ignition on/kill switch too,, just one position sould do,, i dont see the need for a two possition switch,,

also i think you would need a imobiliser which has a smart fob,, you know the ones which only start the car when it senses your near it,, or i think the imobiliser i have in my cally (toad Ai606) would also work i guess

Could do what I've done - fit a panel of 'Aux. power' connectors (ok, they're really cig lighters ) in the glove box problem solved.
