Lost Brake pedal pressure

by debowen » Sat Sep 17, 2005 10:11 am

Jumped in the car this morning and the brake pedal went straight to the floor.
Under the bonnet I found the fluid was low and figured I had just lost brake fluid. Topped up the reservoir and hit the pedal and waller, the pressure was back, then surprise!! I started the engine and no pressure *@#????
What has happened? Before I let the leaches rip me off I'd like some views as to what the trouble is.

If the level went below the tank level you'll have got air in the system..
odds are also if you've lost that much its because of a leak somewhere.. press the brakes a few times hard.. hold them down under pressure etc..(with engine going..) then safely move the car forward and see for anything on the ground that looks fresh to get an idea where from..

Either way sounds like the brakes will need bleeding to get the air out.

sound's like the marster cylender has gone. if on the first press it goes straight to the floor, and on the second on ward's it is fine that's what it will be. easy enuth to change as i have had the problem on a cav and a early 16v cally
