Dsa Remote Control Unit, need Help Fitting!!

by JTURPSY » Sun Sep 18, 2005 11:06 am

I recently purchased a Vauxhall DSA Remote Control Unit off eBay,Part number;91132217.
Reading the instructions it says that "Although the DSA Remote Control is intended as a remote option for the DSA Alarm system,it is an independant system and can be installed in any Vauxhall vehicle",it then goes on to show you how to fit it (like the guide shown in guides and articles)if you have no alarm on your car.It also says that if you want it to operate your alarm then it must be installed by a vauxhall dealership.Does anyone no how to fit this so it works with the alarm,or if I fit it independantly following the fitting instructions, will my alarm still work?I think it is something to do with the two short black wires but they are uncoded because of the Thatchem Cat 1 status. My car is a 1996 2Ltr 16V ECOTEC Calibra.
Thanks.

The kit I have bought is an add on to the already fitted Vauxhall DSA Thatchem alarm and immobiliser that arms/disarms when you lock/unlock the doors using the key, what it does is operate the central locking and total closure by a remote key fob. This kit can be fitted on its own but also it can arm/disarm the alarm by the remote locking/unlocking the car. This is done by connecting two wires that come from the central locking kit,one wire pulses a voltage when doors are locked using the remote, one pulses a voltage when the doors are unlocked using the remote, this mimmicks the action of the microswitch in the door lock arming and disarming the alarm. What I need to find out is what colour wires on the alarm loom these 2 black wires connect to,I can't find any info because the alarm is a Thatchem catagory alarm (hence the two black uncoded wires) and this info is only availeble to Vauxhall fitters, that is why it says take it to a dealer to have it fitted so that it will operate the alarm as well.

I Have the same problem. The DSA remote control unit is different to the earlier one detailed on this forum. It has a 16 pin plug mounted on the side of the box and a single black antenna wire. As far as I can understand it should plug directly into the fitted DSA alarm but I can not find such a free plug in the existing loom. For all I know you do need a loom but only dealers have access. The EPC shows the unit but is ambiguous about how it fits. Please can anyone help. I don't think these dsa alarms lasted very long and there seems to be very little info available for them.

Yes...he is my brother jimbohotpants

Incidentally vauxhall tell me that the DSA remote control has to be coded to the fitted alarm and I have had to book it in as it is dealer only security related and secret!
