drivers window

my drivers side window dosent go down. the passenger side does and the lights on the switches are both on, what could cause this and how do i fix it?

Window motor could be gone on the drivers side. If it is it'll have to be changed.

dya know ive had this prob with my passenger one for ages. then went to put in the new motor the last 2 times and it starts working just as i have the door panel and buttons and all out. works then for about a day then stops again. really annoying. so i suspect its a dodgy switch. as with u i the lights are on in the switches. might be worth trying before going off fitting a new motor.

will take switches out this weekend and see if they are loose. window motor is bottom left of drivers door isnt it? am i right in thinking that its riveted in?

Just had this on the new one i bought, neither side worked. changed switches nothing, replaced both motors in the end, problem solved.

If you take the doorcards off and remove the electrical plug from the motor you can put a multimeter over it, there are abotu 5-6pins i think, but it doesnt take much to work out which is the earth, and then to make sure one of them goes +v when you press up and another +v when you press down.. if they do then its the motors and the switches are ok. you could use the good side to verify which pin is which etc.

For intermittant problems, take that connector off and make sure it is nice and clean/dry etc. but it is more likely the door connector, the big round one, they can get wet and corrode.. unplug it and see if its damp at all.

There is a known issue with earlier versions, not sure if it includes calibras or not, where the wiring path etc leads to premature failure due to moisture at one/both of these plugs, i cant remember which.

worth a try anyway at this stage. did notice dat sometimes when the door is open it works alrite so ill have a look at that.
