Start at the top and take off the air inlet hose to allow clear access. Undo the bolts holding the brackets(13 mm) on the top of the alternator. Then either jack up the car or get it on a 2 post lift. Undo the live and earth terminals. Undo the large secuing bolt (think its a 19mm, you'll need 2 spanners one either end). When the alternater is loose enough to move, undo the bracket securing bolts to the block. There are 2. Draw out the alternator between the drive shaft and the bottom of the bulkhead (it will go but its a tight fit)
Once you done that, take off the bracket and fix it to your new alternater. Make sure it goes on the right way. Refit is reverse of above.
To get the belt on properly, remove the o/s/f access cover in the wheel arch liner. Get a spanner on the belt tensioner pulley. Give it a yank and at the same time push the belt so it is on properly.
Let the car down. reconnect your battery. Job done.
