disconnect the battery before you unclip the knock sensor, clean it up with some wd40 then leave the actual battery disconnected for at least half hour, i left mine for 1 hour just in case, that will clear the codes on the ecu, then once reconected turn the engine on and just make sure the engine management light (eml) goes out then give it a try, if the sensor is still faulty it will put the eml light back on and you will again be in limp mode (prob need new sensor) but once the codes are clear and you have left the battery disconnected for an hour give it a go and i reckon it will be fine, knock sensors don't usually go wrong anyway, it is usually just a dirty/bad electrical connection
anyway dc the battery and give it a go an hour later and let us know what happens, i think you will find it will of solved the problem
its the battery rather than the ecu you want to disconnect

right..... after changing the front knock sensor for a new one, i thought id check the back one as well, where it conects to the red plug at the top there was only one wire the other one had snaped... rejointed the wire but didnt have time to block it to the block. (so only had front knock sensor on) drove it home and ecu light DIDNT come one but still running ruff feels like its missing alot ? any ideas can i run with 1 knock sensor or does it have to be 2 ?

As far as i know the V6 needs both knock sensors running, 1 per bank.
