remote locking

Any electrical issues

if you have the alarm, most come with orange wires to the repeaters. You can either connect them to the indicator loom live feed and have wires all over your bay, or u can put them thru the inner wing and link to the live side of the side repeaters. it looks tidier the 2nd way.

the best earth point you will find is the screw holding the bracket to the vehicle. crimp an earth lop onto the wire and when you put the bracket back on the the footwell wall, it will earth to that. Not seen a kit with an earth tho. both wires on the 2 kits i have used went straight to the lock / unlock circuits. Have a look in the daylight.

ok, didn't realise you are not working around the interface for the locking but the other side lol. Earth points....well theres the - side of the glovebox light, the - side of the ciggie lighter, or if all else fails, crimp an earthing loop on ya wire, drill a 1/8th hole in the footwell behind the trim and self tap screw an earth point.

ok how many wires are connected to the central locking interface. There should be 2. one to lock, one to unlock. if it doesn't pulse to both connections it wont work. period.
both use negative earth so find the 2 concerned by making that earth point and testing the 2 points to a good earth (like the screw holding the door pin switch.
As soon as the contact is made, the door will lock or unlock. If you can, send a copy (scan?) of the wiring you got with the kit cos i am having trouble trying to work out where they are telling you to fit them. My emails on my profile.

I'm trying to think of things that might help:
from easy to 'oh bugger' . .

Have you tried a fresh battery in the remote(s)? Just if it's the ones they come with they have probably been sat for a long time on a shelf somewhere!(the little gold coloured ones I got). Maplins do the right size for about 90p I think. (I usually carry a spare in my wallet they're that small, just in case it ever dies while I'm away from home).

It sounds very much like the problem I had with a bad earth. When you arm the system/connect it up, what does the LED do? Mine started flashing as expected, but then I could visibily see it getting dimmer as the earth point wasn't good enough (well, it wasn't at all !). I never thought at the time of using the ciggy lighter/glovebox light, I ended up earthing to a metal screw up inside the glovebox area on the left , there were already some other cables earthed there.

I'm assuming that to prevent the alarm going off when you disconnected the battery that you've got the key at pos II, have you tried using the remotes with the ignition off, cos I'm sure one of the connections on the system 90 is to the ignition switched live to prevent the system activating when the ignition is on.

Could be a duff control unit , and/or duff remotes...
I had problems with it being VERY tempermental to lock/unlock, one remote would work sometimes, the other never. Had the control box replaced and all was well.

From memory the remotes have a little sticker inside with a short number on, it should match the unit, but I can't remember where to check, there maybe another sticker in the unit itself.
There is a way to put the thing into learn mode apparently but thankfully I didn't have to do that (involved shorting some pins on the board and was gonna be very fiddly apparently)

If you PM alarmbod on this site, he works (or did when I got my kit) on the helpline whose number you get in the installation booklet. He's VERY helpful, guessed and sorted my minor problems in no time.

hmm, doesn't sound good mate, when the systems armed it should be blinking away.
Does it not come on even with the ignition off?
If it doesn't the control box might be dodgy (or it could be a dead LED of course!)

Sell that cali and get new one and try again - you made a mess with cabels very hard to sort it out now...

just kidding - check wires again - you know one is ok (locking) so you just have to find did you connected right wire for unlocking - maybe its diferent colour on your car (for some reason...)

dont tempt me pas! i thought the wire may also be a different colour, many things i have done on my 97 plate cali seems to be different to the earlier ones. has any1 fitted the systerm 90 kit to a newer cali? is there a possibilty the loom could have changed from when it was first introduced??

Have you done what I suggested with the wire to the earth point yet?
Find the unlock connector on the lock interface by touching it with an earthed cable. There are 2 rows on the interface. whichever you connected to to make the doors lock, touch the earthed wire to the one next to it on the other row. the doors will pop. THEN try each of the cables you have remaining to the one that popped the door locks. Each time just hold the wire to the connecter, try your remote. When one pops the locks, you got it sussed.
