Fitting Front Fogs in My Ecotec Calibra

by garry77 » Tue Feb 21, 2006 3:03 am

I would like to be able to fit a set of front fogs on my '96 cali, is this a big job or can it be done easily? At the moment it has none, is the wiring there or is fitting the fogs a job worth avoiding?

Hi mate, any reason why they are not there already as I thought all the later models had them ??
I'm not sure if the wiring is already there but it's easy enough to do if you had some good instructions.

the fact that its a 16v, it should have them, early 8v's were the ones that didnt come with them, upto 95/96 i think it was

think the clear lense ones are illegal over here thats probably why, you can have them but you would need to swap the lenses back over at mot time

All Calibras use the same headlamps. VX part numbers 90392574 & 5. Fogs built in. If you haven't got any in there, it may be that someone has removed them for some purpose. The parts listing only states one set of headlights across the range.

Yes but on some callys they didn't fit fog lights, relays and the dashboard switch.

yeah i think the very early ones, pre 93-ish didn't have any guts in them and it was a sales option fit.

Funniest thing I remember when the Cally came out. I was working @ local VX dealers and they unveiled this sports coupe with the lowest CD factor of a production road car. Then showed how the sunroof opened and immediatly destroyed all that super airflow. The cally was red, it was G reg, and had cloth seats. It was the most basic model as they hadn't really prepared for the launch.
I didn't think i would ever own one as my thoughts at the time were not very favourable.

25 years on, here i am. Cally owner !
