Cooling Fan/Switch Wiring
Anyone got a diagram for this.
What I need to know is if the main rad cooling fan is independant of all systems bar its sensor in the radiator.
Something like this:
12v +ve__________/1 _________FUSE_________/2 _______FAN_____GND
1 - Ign Switch
2 - Fan Switch
Its just that mine is still playing sillybuggers turning on/off at random. I just want to make sure that nothing else is going to switch it on/off other than the temp switch in the Radiator.

The haynes manual has wiring diagrams - do you have one of these? Although they can be a bit of a bugger to get your head round.

It only does it when the ignition is on. Regardless of the indicated engine temp. Some times it on for a second or two then off then on again and off and so on, yet other times its on for ages or off for ages.
This all manifested itself after i flushed the engine, and refilled it. I'm pretty sure theres no air locks as the coolant bridge was not issuing bubbles after a bit of pipe squishing, running the engine a couple of times and re doing it.
Im assuming that the fan is soley controlled by the temp switch on the radiator, which would indicate the temp switch being knacked.
I dont have a haynes yet tho.

No, on the V6 there are two temp switches (three if you have aircon fitted).
These switches run the various cooling fans and secondary water pump through a series of relays.

Have a look at the fault finding charts at the bottom of the link page.
From the intermittent nature of the fault you describe I would suspect dodgy connection/loose wire or a faulty relay somewhere.
