I also have this problem and have just recently found out that the piston in my front shock is moving sideways inside its cylinder. If anyone has a koni adjustable front shock lying around give me a pm thanks

<!--QuoteBegin-pas+--><div class='quotetop'>(pas)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Bad as - not perfectly round, it gets little oval or egg shaped if you hit a curb or go over hole in high speed and million other ways. Cheaper alloys that are not good quality will be more sensitive and distort faster and easier.
Also alloys are cylinder in shape and you have two ends so one end can be perfect circle (one you see looking at the car) and other can be distorted.

That is what is in my case - when I look at wheel balancing outer edge is rolling nicely and straight but when I look at innner edge it wobbles like egg.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

This is what happened to mine, balanced them etc. I had to clean the engine one day to find an oil leak, while clean the drive shaft underneath the car i noticed when spinning the wheel while it was up in the air it was not round on the inside edge the outside was perfect, so purchased some new wheels problem sorted. I had a similarproblem, over 80 the steering felt spongy and shuddered a bit, thought it was balancing of fronts, IT WASN'T THE CASE!!!

Bloody drivers side front spring had broken! Worth check this as it was the cause of my problem!

Good luck

this can be quite a few things, best to start off with the cheapest, I've recently changed lower wishbones and upper ball joints which has made the problem less, had all wheels checked and balanced, as my car has done nearly 190K mliles it can only be the steering rack now

can you feel any excessive play in the steering rack?

I've just had new lower arms, front's balanced, tracking etc.etc.. spiggot rings in and OK.

The whole car starts to 'flutter' vibrate... whatever over 55 too... not through the steering but you can feel it through the steering wheel.

I gave one of our directors a lift this morning and he suspects the propshaft could be the cause (worn support bushes?)

Might be worth checking.
