8v braided brake hoses

by se6 » Sun Mar 19, 2006 10:40 am

After reading previous thread about best brake pads seems that braided brake hoses are a worthwhile upgrade. Is it just fronts that i need to do, or rears also?
I have looked at goodridge brake lines and they only list 16v and turbo. Would 16v fit my 8v?
Or does anyone know of any brands that would sell 8v specific hoses?
Spoke to a local shop to me, they make braided hose sets up, dont know how good they would be. I would need to take some normal hoses in for them to make up from for size etc. Are a set of normal hoses very costly, as i cant be doing with no brake hoses on my car.
Sorry for all the questions.
Thanks

Far as I know, the 8v and 16v brake systems are identical, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Bottom line is, order them. If they don't look like they'll work, don't use them. You could always sell them here and make your money back.

BTW, I was looking into this a while ago, and would be interested in the results. Keep us posted.

Think they are the same as the 16V ones. They do make a great improvement, get front and back.

Hi,

I ordered a set of Goodridge Hoses through LMF for my 1996 8v. When they came they said 16v on the packet so I assumed they were the same.

Gave them to a local Garage to fit and the fronts went on fine, but the rears had the wrong coupling. Goodridge said send them to them and they would mod them to fit the coupling on my 8v, so I did and never heard anything back off them :frown: . I rang them a few times and they said they had never received them. I decided not to chase it up as I was very busy with other things at the time.

So be warned, the 16v set might not fit the rear of your 8v.
