MOT Failure

by Calibra Gordy » Thu Mar 30, 2006 6:16 am

Hi,

Can anyone help?

My calibra has just failed its MOT on the following:

Near and off side front anti roll bar linkages fractured
Near and off side rear bonded suspension deteriorated and cannot function
Near front outer constant velocity joint gaiter split

All need new parts to pass, the garage has quoted me 325 pounds total for supply and fit, is this a good price? I am looking elsewhere as well. I do know that the rear bonded suspension bushes are awkward, the garage says 1 hour each side for these only.

Hope someone can advise. I live in Redbridge, Ilford.

Cheers.

Get onto Autovaux and see how much the y can do them for. Normally cheaper to buy the parts yourself.

never heard of rear bonded suspension either. roll bar linkages between 10 and 20 pound per pair (they went on mine too). CV boot is cheap as chips although cant remember exact price (no more than £30). All from vauxhall. Good luck mate i f*^!in hate garages.

Took the car to Wheels MOT Centre in Beehive Lane in Redbridge.

The bonded suspension is the rubber bushes that are at the bottom of the A frame to the rear of the car.

Cheers Toddy, tried Autovaux really helpful and very good prices. 62 quid for all the parts.

I done my anti roll bushes myself and I'm by no means a mechanic. Can take a little while so you'll save yourself a bit in labour if you DIY it. I have a single anti roll bush for a post 1993 calibra if you haven't bought the parts yet. £6 including postage.
