aha, it seems I do have a factory fitted alarm I had no idea about. I looked through the security manual and realised I didn't know the procedure for deadlocking, so I deadlocked and looked for the red flashing light. Tested it by popping the bonnet and deadlocking to find it set the hazards off but not the horn. Yet another problem to tackle.

Doesn't help with the mystery lead problem though as the diagram of the alarm here ( <a href="http://www.v6calibra.com/alarm/v6calibra_atas.htm" target="_blank">http://www.v6calibra.com/alarm/v6calibra_atas.htm</a> ) shows nothing like it under the bonnet.

Anyone know where the pins mentioned on the above site can be found to get a fault code?

check the oil level sender on the front of the sump, might have been ripped apart and be part of that

I would say what you have there is the remains of the temp sensor that should be in your bumper

It is, yeah. Can't see how this would be anything to do with them though 'cos the wires at the end are incased in plastic.

just the location of where the end plugs in ..was just a thought (do they work your washers?) as for the end could it not be someone has cut pulled the end off and used some sort of heat shrink on the ends?
