Any issues relating to suspension, steering and brakes.

Camber

by ice » Tue Apr 25, 2006 12:15 pm

Ive changed the following on my car.
1) 18" wheels
2) Bilstein Premium suspension
3) Cav16 website camber kit
4) setup by power engineering

The camber suggested by cav16 should be between -1.25 and -1.5 i can only manage 1.5 on the drivers rear and -2 on the passenger rear. I dont know why this is. Ive had the components looked over for visable damage and there is none. Saying this the toe of the rear is spot on.

Any suggestions would be nice..

Question 2) I have a similar problem on the drivers front the camber is -1.5 where the passenger front is -.5 i have changed the following on the front

1) Wishbones
2) Drop Links
3) Track rod ends
4) Bilstein Premium suspension
5) 18" Wheels
6) Setup by power engineering

The tracking is spot on and the car does not wonder off or anything

What offset are the alloys?
the lower the offset the higher the camber will be, vaux are ?ET49?
My camber was out even with maximum correction as i mentioned the other day, i put it down to that also. I cannot remember the figures, but i dont think it was as much as -2, it was -1.5 i think. I will try to dig it out later.

theres a lot of data on the net, i think some of its in the handbook even, you could get your tape measure out and check basic point to point measurements, check the wheels diagonally for square, left and right wheelbase etc etc.

worth asking them to have a look over, i wouldnt worry too much though, your figures seem to be within the spec that was listed on the printout i have. by the time you sit in the drivers seat you're going to create a bit more camber on the right anyway.. hehe.. probably work out ok, if not you just got to keep eating pies untill it does.

Dude jack the back of the car up and take some measurements. Measure between bolts, mounting points etc... on both sides. If it's not symmetrical then yiou are looking at chassis damage.

i had a look underneath yeaterday and the appears to be no damage visually either to suspension parts or the chassie, ill have a go as measuring some bolt distances over the weekend.

did you check the front subframe bushes when you had it down? perhaps one is worn/damaged and the subframe isnt sat straight?
