ABS fault - HELP!!
checked the abs sensors and rings, i done that before i knew about the paperclip test. is that not very reliable test then? all sensor and teeth look in good condition and clean. On the MOT failure sheet, it says "ABS light indicates ABS fault" they dont actually test the ABS do they? so if took the lamp out of the fault light would it pass?

If it says the ABS ECU is faulty then you need to look in that area. If there was a problem with the sensors then it should give a different code. The fact that when you cleaned up the connector the fault disappeared for a while makes me think that your problem lies around there somewhere. Try an ECU from a scrappies just to double check. I'm pretty sure it's a 5 minute job to slave in a new one and test it...!!!

yeah, it looked tricky, coz some of the terminal connections look sort of soldered, but i checked the manual and they said it just unbolts pulls out and new 1 bolts in!surely it cant be that easy!still....remains to be seen!Phoned vauxhall to find out how much a new one is - £708! I nearly collapsed, jokers! phoned scrappie, they have one for £30! hopefully it will do the trick

the grey box is the ecu usually under a cover in the passenger side sill or in the passenger footwell same as ecu on drivers side
there are 2 versions 1 for 4x4 and one for 2wd with the 2wd one having less teeth on the abs ring than the 4x4 one
one the point of abs rings does anyone know if they are available seperate or if they only come fitted on a new cv?
